Pagosa Springs Holiday Lights Competition

The Pagosa Springs Annual Holiday Lighting Contest is officially underway and 24 businesses and residential properties have entered this colorful contest so far! Lighting is guaranteed to be on every Friday and Saturday night until New Years, so you have plenty of time to tour Pagosa and see all of the Christmas decorations and lighting that has been put up. Downtown Pagosa Springs is already covered in lights!

If you’re looking for things to do out of the cold, Pagosa Escape Zone should be on your list! The escape zone features rooms with 3 scenarios to choose from and each room is sanitized between bookings for covid safety. The goal for each room is simple… Escape!

While they do change regularly, the current escape scenarios are:

Escape Zone

  • Krampus – “You and your group of 4 to 8 people have 60 minutes to decipher clues, find codes and solve puzzles in order to ESCAPE before Krampus returns and makes you his next victims…DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES???”

Known for some of the best BBQ this side of Texas, Smoken Moe’s is a great place to beat the cold and sit down for a warm meal! Moe’s offers pit-smoked barbeque smothered in signature sauces, perfect to warm you up! They also offer catering and you can even order food by the pound to bring the barbeque home! The menu has plenty of options, so you are sure to find something great to eat!

Snow In September!

Colorado is having trouble making up it’s mind on the weather this month! The beginning of the month held several 90F+ days and forest fires throughout the state. September 8th however, we experienced a temperature drop of nearly 50 degrees and enough rain and snow to leave the ground muddy! Wolf Creek Pass got 13 inches of snow, A full 13 days before the solstice!

Auction For The Animals

First Ever Virtual Auction For The Animals

For the past 25 years, the Humane Society of Pagosa Springs has hosted an annual live “Auction For The Animals” to help fund our local animal shelter. With current restrictions involving in-person gatherings, however, things are going to be different for 2020…

In lieu of a live auction, the Humane Society has decided to move the bidding online! Items in this auction range from smaller items such as gift-cards and art pieces, all the way up to a Kilimanjaro climbing trip, and even a four wheel drive F150 pickup! You can also choose to donate money for food, microchips, vaccines, spay/neuter costs, or even emergency medical expenses.

This auction is a wonderful way to support your local Humane Society and animals during these uncertain times.

Archuleta County Virtual Fair and Livestock Auction

2020 has been a difficult year for most. With public events being restricted left and right, it’s become increasingly difficult to safely execute them.  The Archuleta County Fair Board had to think outside the box to make the 69th annual county fair happen.

Faced with Colorado in-person meeting restrictions, they decided the best thing to do was move the shows, and 4-H livestock auction, completely online.

All shows are open to immediate family members only, but you will be able to watch the livestock shows and bid in the auction from the comfort of your home!

Fair begins Thursday, July 30th, and the auction will take place on August 1st at 6pm. These 4-H’ers have put months of hard work into their animals and would appreciate your support during this transitional time!
